I am looking at setting up a home network with 3 computers. I understand how
tho connect the computers, but I am looking for what settings and protocols I
need to use to get them to communicate. Two of the computers are running ME
and the other is XP. I am connected to the internet via cable modem and the
three computers are connected using a hub. I am not too advanced in
networking so if you have some help for me and could keep it in simple terms
I would appreciate it. Thanks.

Set up the connection on your Windows XP computer so that it is connected to
the internet. Then go to your Network Connections and enable Internet
connection Sharing on that connection. The following instructions will tell
you what to do with the other machines.

I wouldn't do ICS in this situation. Bill, are you sure it is a hub and
not a router? If it is a simple hub, spend the few dollars and get
yourself a router. Life will be much simpler for you then. Here are
some links to help you with your networking:

http://www.bcmaven.com/networking/faq.htm
http://www.linksys.com/edu/ (of course you don't need to use Linksys
hardware; this page has some good illustrations of setting up a
network)
