Home Network Question

I have a wireless router but the range doesn't quite cover all areas.
I want to add another wireless router/access point into the mix. Will
another wireless router work as an access point? Or does it have to
have the internet cable plug in. I know I can set the upstream
connection to the other router.
And second question, where is a good place to place the other device
in terms of signal strength from the starting point?

Thanks

No - you'd need to get another access point. Get one made by the same mfr,
and ensure that the main device supports extenders/repeaters.

Or replace the current wireless router with something like a SonicWALL
wireless (TZ180) which has way more power & greater range.

Hi
There is many ways to solve this issue.
The best way is to lay a cable to central locations in the house, but an
inexpensive Wireless cable/DSL Router and as a Switch with an Access Point.
Wireless Cable/DSL Router as a Switch with an Access Point -

You do not want/can not/hate/your client hate to lay Cable.

Buy a Pair of Wireless Routers that can do WDS (Zyxel, SMC, Belkin have
models that do WDS as is out of the Box).

In general these are the classical ways to deal with Distance issues, choose
the one that best suit your needs.
