home button sends me to about:blank

Somehow something messed with my system so that whenever
I press the home icon in internet explorer I go to a
about:blank page. This usually points to an adult search
page. I've tried resetting the page via internet options
under tools, internet options under control panel, and
clearing the start page registry entries but I can't find
where it is being reset to about:blank. I scanned for any
viruses and didn't find any. Any suggestions of what to
look at next?

As a start you will need to clean your OS from the
spyware. Download CWShredder from
http://www.spychecker.com/program/cwshredder.html, Spybot
from http://www.safer-networking.org/index.php?
lang=en&page=download and Adaware from
http://www.lavasoftusa.com/. Run them while offline and in
SAFE boot mode. Delete the red entries that Spybot
displays. Reboot.
