Home Activation Problem

I installed Home XP on my laptop, and activated the program immediately.

The past few days I have started getting the countdown saying I need to
activate the software, 5 days, 4 days and so on.

Needless to say thinking something must have gone wrong with the activation,
I selected the option to activate again.I have now tried this for 3 days in a
row.

However when I do this I get the message saying that the software is already
activated. I can do no more.......

What is going on and is my system likely to pack up in a few days when the
countdown elapses?
