HK_Classes_Root .lnk deleted

Hello, I deleted the key HKCR by mistake, how can I restore it and what was
under it, if there is a way to do so.
Thanks a lot.

I meant, I deleted the HK_Classes_Root\.lnk key (on Windows 2000)
More on my problem: I copied the key from a working Windows 2000 registry,
and "restore it" using Regedt32, the shell icons are back (i.e. Internet
Explorer, My Computer, etc...) but other links (having the extension .lnk)
still didn't get fixed, if I try to double click an icon, it opens a dialog
box with the buttons Open, Save, Cancel or More Info...

Again thanks in advance for your help

Use regedit instead of regedt32 in this case. Select the key HKCR\.lnk
on the working machine and select File -> Export to save it as a .reg
file. Then, on the not-working machine, select File -> Import and select
the .reg file you exported.

Thanks for your help, but unfortunately it didn't work
I the working registry computer is WinXP and and non-working is Win 2000, Do
you think that's why it didn't work? I think they're both the same. Any help
would be highly appreciated.

thanks.

Ok, there are no guarantees that it would work across different Windows
versions, so that is probably why it only some shortcut functions works.

Possibly Load Hive with a copy of the original SOFTWARE hive from
installation (%systemroot%\repair\)in Regedt32.exe, and then Exporting
from regedit.exe, then changing the .REG file paths might get the OP
somewhere.
