own custome hit counter that won't intereact outside of my companies
intranet?

Does the server have FrontPage extensions??
If so, just install the FrontPage hit counter.

The server does not have FP ext. and my company will not allow them.

Who need to see the hits, etc.? If management, have the server-admin install a Server Log File
application.

If you are allowed to have an access database in the web it
would not be too hard to make your own. If you would need
help with this it would not take too long. Just need to
know if you want any other information in it

Yes it would basically just need to be management. What is involved w/
installing a Server Log File, is it difficult and/or hard to read, how do
they access it?

The server automatically tracks hit and user in the server log file, if enabled, however the company
would need to purchase a log analyzer application such as:

WebTrends
http://www.webtrends.com/

Urchin
http://www.Urchin.com/

There are others, just type the following into your IE Address bar:

? Windows IIS log analyzer
