Hit Counter Help

I am attempting to insert a hit counter component onto a
site with FP 2000. For some reason it will not work. The
[Hit Counter] stays on the page after I save it and view
it in the IE and Netscape browsers. I have used this
counter before with no problems. Has someone else
experienced this problem?

Is the site published??
It won't work in Preview or Preview in browser
unless published to a local or remote server.
