Is there any way of removing a single link in the address
drop down without deleting the whole history? Thanks in
advance

Mark,
Those are in a TypedURLs key in the registry. This article explains the
TypedURLs history:

You can clear some or all by editing that registry key.

For a freeware program which makes this easier, go to:
http://www.aandrc.com/editurls/index.htm for EditURLs.

And... if you type in URLs via File> Open, they won't go into the TypedURLs
list and you can keep just a select few in that list.
