The following procedure will clear out all the current data stored by Auto
Complete and will stop the Auto Complete function from operating. You can
turn it on again if you want to by reversing the process after clearing the
unwanted clutter. Clean it out on a regular basis.
Open IE , click on Tools | Internet Options | Content | Auto Complete |
uncheck Clear Forms | then click on Clear Forms |then go back to Tools |
Internet Options | Advanced tab | Un-check option for 'Use inline
AutoComplete for Web addresses'. Close IE open it again and it should be
done.
Visited URLs are included/used by the Auto Complete feature in IE. The
Visited URL data is stored in the Index.dat file that IE maintains in the
upper level of its History folder.
Note that you must do this while IE is closed in order for it to take
effect, and if you delete for example url15, all higher-numbered URLs will
also disapperear from IE unless you rename them.
