HiPerfCooker_v1 & WMIProv

V

Viajero

The following error messages were recorded in the event
viewer of my PC (Dell 8100, Win XP Home. The system was
reloaded yesterday after a hard disk crash.

"A provider, HiPerfCooker_v1, has been registered in the
WMI namespace Root\WMI to use the local system account.
This account is privileged and the provider may cause a
security violation if it does not correctly impersonate
user requests."

I get the same error message for a provider "WMIProv".

Could someone please advise: (a) what caused these error
messages and (b) whether they are matters of concern and,
if so, what action should be taken. I find nothing on MS
Support regarding these messages.

Thanks very much,

Viajero

I have just been experiencing the same problems myself,
except no hard crashes, just lots of stop errors. I just
checked out the HiPerfCooker issue, and it is not a threat
or unauthorized program; see following article for more.

Good luck
