hijacked computer

I am running XP home, I have Norton AV as well as spyware nuker and a popup b;ocker
I seem to have allowed my computer to be hijacked by something called Pgate-Basic. I see it on on my change/remove program list but when I try to remove, I am directed to down load an uninstaller from their wb site. I do not trust this procedure. Is there a way to get this thing off my computer

Check for the presence of spyware:

Bazooka Adware and Spyware Scanner 1.12

It is spywarenuker that is doing it.Spywarenuker
installs adware and then charges for removal.
uninstall spyware nuker and install spybot from this site
www.safer-networking.org/ Spybot

some info from spywareinfo.com

SpywareNuker is a program I've mentioned a few times in
the past. The maker of Spybot S&D has been stating
<http://safer-networking.org/index.php?
page=news&detail=2003-02-12> for nearly a year that
SpywareNuker's target database included data from his own
database without his permission. Trek Blue, the company
that makes SpywareNuker, denies this of course. However,
I have seen some of the evidence myself and I am
convinced that the allegations are true, based on that
evidence.
I have mentioned previously that Symantec now includes
detection for adware and spyware in their Norton
Antivirus product. Norton now is targeting SpywareNuker
<http://securityresponse.symantec.com/avcenter/venc/data/a
dware.spywarenuker.html> under the "Adware" category.
