Highlighting Text Areas

Is it possible to highlight multiple, non-adjacent, text areas in Word 2000?
 
No. That ability wasn't added until Word 2002. You can do it in Word 2002
and later.
 
Yes.

Word 2003:

Do the following:
1. Double click to select a word.
2. Press the Ctrl key and double other word you want to select.
You can change the formatting for those word only.
