highlighting of message in view pane - outlook 2003

the selected message which displays in the view pane is highlighted in
standard blue. if i click on another active program, the highlighted message
changes from the standard blue to an extemely faint, almost indescernable
yellow. how can i change the faint yellow to a more prominent color?
 
can you explain, then, why other computers with the same version of outlook
do not have this problem? outlook on other computers is somehow configured
differently since the message is highlited with a bolder color.

Do they all use the same windows theme? Same version of Outlook and windows?
Can you post a screen shot of how it looks on your computer and how it looks
are theirs?

Same Problem

I can't tell which message is the selected on in the inbox message list pane ( the one what has from, subject, recieved,etc columns in it ), which forces me to open the message in a new window before I deleted it as otherwise I might delete the wrong one. If it is highlighted, I can't tell, as they all look the same to me unless they are unread, in which case their text is in bold.
