We have just had a dish installed on top of a tower in
order to obtain wireless internet service. ( We live out
in the countryside) A router was installed along with
wireless internet cards on our computers.

When the techie came to install the setup, the wireless
would work for a minute and then cut off. He was using
Windows 2000 on his laptop and he did not expereience
this problem. All three computers in our home have Home
Edition of XP and expereienced the same problem.

The firewall is turned out and the advance setting is
ready to accept a router.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Probably best to call back the techie.

Don't access the internet without a router, and please make sure all
your XP boxes have all Windows updates. Without all this, you run risk
of getting Blaster worm (or worse) within minutes of getting an internet
connection.
