Can anybody assist?

I installed some software on Win 2000 professional,
without disabling virus dection software, since then my
cpu has been running at 100%. All the time. Shutting
down and rebooting to no affect. Not affecting ram
performance.

Any assistance would be gratefully received.

Thanks

Siob,

I am not sure how this is an Active Directory issue. This particular news
group is dedicated to WIN2000 Active Directory issues. I might suggest that
you contact the A/V software people as well as the application people.

You might want to also post this question to the WIN2000.General news
group....

What happens if you uninstall the software completely? Still at 100%? What
happens if you install the software with the A/V disabled? What happens if
you uninstall the A/V software?

HTH,

Which vendor AV software? I've seen reports that MacAfee has problems
recently and there is an update that fixes the problem.

Have you checked the Task Manager to see what process is taking up the CPU?

BTW, I've **NEVER** disabled AV on a computer....ever. The worst I've ever
seen is the process takes longer since the AV scanning might slow down the
install.
