Hiding startmenu icons

Is there a way of hiding all startmenu icons ? including all the icons in all
the submenu folders... ?
 
Because I hate it when they are loading so slow... I really don't need
them... Text menues would be enough for me. But I guess there is no way of
hiding them :(
