Is there a command I can run from a macro (like the autoexec one) to hide the
main database window? (ie., the window that shows all tables, queries,
forms, reports, pages, macros, modules, & favorites)

You could try unchecking the Display Database Window option in Tools ->
Startup to accomplish this.
