Hide macrobuttons?

I just installed a 2003 Office update and now in all of my Word documents I
can see the MacroButtons instead of the actual text that they produce. I.e.,
on my screen it now displays "{toc /o "1-2"}" instead of displaying the
actual table of contents. In the printed document and in the Reading Layout
view, the macro is correctly displayed. How can I make it so that the Marco
displays in Normal view or Print Layout view?

I have very little experience with Macros.

Thanks!

These are field codes, not macrobuttons. Press Alt-F9.
