hidden text and shading

When I have a table row that contains hidden text and shading, once I close the doc and open it again, one line of the shading is there (without text) when I have the hidden text hidden. If I don't close it, the shading and text disappear with the hidden text off.

Hard to say what's happening... What version do you use? Do you apply
shading to text, paragraphs, or cells?

One problem you may run into is that every cell has a "paragraph mark"
(end-of-cell marker) at the end that you can't format as "hidden".
So if you have applied a shading to the last paragraph in the cell, you will
still see that shaded empty paragraph, even if all the text in the paragraph
is "hidden".
You can try to format the paragraph mark right before the hidden last
paragraph as "hidden" too, to get around that.

Though I don't understand how closing and re-opening the document can make
any difference... perhaps you have another problem.
