Hidden file list during copy or move attempt

Whenever I right click on a file or group of files in Explorer to move or
copy, the file list is always blank. I have tried everything to fix it to no
avail. I have the most current Microsoft updates installed.

I'm not sure if you understand what I mean? I don't see a list of files or
folders in the dialog box when I right click on a file or group of files to
move or copy. It will usually give me an option to move or copy to a
DISPLAYED list of folders. This is blank without ANY folders in the dialog
box. I can select to move it to a created folder, but yet I still can see NO
FOLDER that's created.
If I continue with the move or copy, I have no idea whwere it goes because
it doesn't indicate anything but the file was copied or moved.

No, I don't understand what you mean, that isn't a Windows XP feature.
Sounds like you had some 3rd party software, "file commander" or such
and you lost it.

No, it was a feature of Windows XP. if you click on a file or files and use
the Windows XP toolbar feature to move or copy a file, it will give you a
dialog box with a list of folders to move, or copy the files to. It also
gives the option to move to a newly created folder. I have a loptop and
another desktop and I've always been able to perform that feature on all of
them or any computer that I've used with Windows XP on it.

Oh, my apologies, I thought it was a "right-click" feature you were
referring to based on the statement, "Whenever I right click on a file
or group of files in Explorer to move or copy". Do you get the empty
Dialog box if you pick Edit, Move to (or Copy to)?
