Hibernation

After hibernating for over an hour (shorter not a problem) When I press a key
example "r" the cursor moves to the recyle bin icon (does not execute) if I
press the r key again it goes to the next icon starting with the letter r.
This is true of any key that has a file on desktop beginning with that key.
Do not confuse problem with MS key + r. Accessibily in control panel has
everything not checked. Rebooting computer stops it. Any suggesstions other
than disabling hibernation. I have this problem with a USB or PS2 keyboard.
Any suggesstions.

Thank You

Sounds like a problem triggered (or alleviated) by heat.

If you just have the desktop up and it is the "active" window and
everything is minimized or not running and you press "r" the RB will
usually be highlighted because it is the first "r" thing Windows
finds. If you press 'r" again it goes to the next icon that is
greater in value than "re". Create a new icon with "ra" and it will
go there first. That is what it is supposed to do.

If you press "m" it will usually go to My Computer (unless you have a
lesser than "my" icons), "g" goes to Google Chrome for me, etc. (I
only have need for a few desktop icons)

Coming out of hibernation is not the same as a reboot. If you reboot,
then click on the desktop, press "r" does it behave differently?

What do you think it should do that it is not?

Sounds like you have an observation, not a problem.

I have a Dell XPS-400 that will act like the shift key is held down with
the mouse when coming out of hibernation mode. Rebooting fixes the
problem too. Sounds similar to your problem. Is yours a Dell too?
