My laptop goes into "hibernate" or "stand by" mode when I
have been letting sit idly. I usually turn off my
computer when it's not going to be used for awhile, but
sometimes I need to keep it on for work and when it goes
into hibernate, the internet connection drops and I have
to restart everything all over again. My power
management settings are set for it to enver go into stand
by or hibernate and yet it still does. Any suggestions?
Thanks.

Go into Device Manager and find the NIC. Double-click it to get its
Properties. There should be a checked box somewhere to "allow Windows
to turn off this device to save power" (or similar language). Uncheck
that box and see if that helps.
