OS = XP-SP2 up-to-date, 512 MB RAM; virus and anti-spyware programs (AVG
Free; Spybot; Spyware Blaster, Ad-Aware SE Personal; CW Shredder; Windows
Defender) all up-to-date.

Sorry to post another hibernation problem, but I've scanned through all the
previous posts and read http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=907477, and find
nothing exactly similar; to wit, won't come out of hibernation, won't
re-boot, won't enter safe mode. No error message; just a blank screen with a
blinking cursor in the top left-hand corner. Have back-up HDD which was
installed as slave, which, when made Master, boots normally. However, when
hung HDD is installed as slave, same results as when it was Master; i.e.,
blank screen with blinking cursor. BIOS identifies the hung HDD whether as
Master or Slave. Any and all suggestions will be appreciated.

A local computer repair shop has told me all indications are the HDD (which
is 5 years old) has seen it's day. So, no need for any reply here unless
someone has a better idea. Back-ups do REALLY come in handy!!!

I've seen tracking software that modfies the MBR. When I've seen that in
the past fdisk /mbr to fix that blinking cursor. Havent really seen it
during hibernation though.
