Hibernation shut down

When I try to shut down in Hibernation mode, I get the
following message.
"The device driver for the "communication port (com1)"
device is preventing the machine from entering
hibernation . Please close application and try again.
If the problem persists, you may need to update this
driver." I've closed all apps., looked for an update and
couldn't find one, and am stumped.
What do I do to correct this?
