hibernation problem

I have windows XP sp2. Sometimes when I try to shut the pc down in
hibernation mode it gets as far as "preparing to hibernate" then freezes. I
then have to press the on-off button to close the pc. I would be grateful for
any advice on how to rectify the fault.

Please provide more information about your system:

Click Start, Run and in the box enter:

msinfo32

Click OK, and when the System Summary info appears, click Edit, Select
All, Copy and then paste the information back here.

There will be some personal information (like System Name and User
Name), and whatever appears to be private information to you, just
delete from the pasted information.

This will minimize back and forth Q&A and eliminate guesswork,

I followed Jose's instructions as far as "copy", but i don't know how to
paste the information "back here". If you mean to paste it into a reply, like
this one, then I can't find any paste button.

If you copied from msinfo32, the information is on your Windows
clipboard.

While you are working in your reply here, put the cursor at the
desired input point, type CTRL-V (paste), or right click, then choose
Paste.

You can always use the shortcut CTRL-V to paste the clipboard contents.
Just start creating the message and when you are ready to insert the
copied text hold down the CTRL (Control) key and press "V".

Again, if I can ask for help in solving this problem, which I would much
appreciate being able to resolve.
