hibernate

Can anyone tell me if hibernate is an option with XP.
I had it with windows 2000 but cannot find it in xp.
I can go the performance manager and enable it but that does not appear to
change anything,
What I want to do is to click the start button, then turn off computer and
have the option of going to hibernate.
At present I can either switch completely off or go to shand by.
Thank you.

I now have the answer; it is to hold down the shift key while choosing stand
by - that gives hibernate.
