Tom, I asked this question many moons ago and was told the answer is
*NO*. It appears W2k and XP (only 32bit OS's I'm familiar with) allow
hibernate file only in the root of the drive they are installed on (too
bad eh?). I looked on the web and found nothing to contradict what I
was told.

I booted the Gparted live-cd and it was all done in a couple of minutes.
