Hibernate enabled and hiberfil.sys exist, disappeared fm power opt

I'm using Hibernate on my PC with Windows 2003 (standard edition) for more
than a year and its enabled. Few days back it stopped hibernating and
Hibernate tab from Power Options disappeared but the hibernate file
"hiberfil.sys" is still there in system root and its not deleting.

I have Terminal Services running and Remote Desktop and Remote Assistance
enabled in System => Remote tab while it was Hibernating earlier.

But for safe side I tried stopping Terminal Services from Administrative
Tools => Services it doesn't show Stop option in Terminal Services context
menu not its enbaling Stop button in toolbar.

I haven't installed any new hardware/driver or any new software while its
stopped working.

Can anyone tell me how it will shows Hibernate tab, and registry trick to do
hibernate.

Your question is about Windows 2003, while this Newsgroup is for
Windows 2000.

Anyway, your problem looks like one that hits Windows XP: SP2
made XP unable to update the size of the pagefile.sys file
when RAM is big (1GB and more). That problem is now fixed by the
hotfix of KB909095, http://support.microsoft.com/kb/909095/. XP
users can get the hotfix (2.5MB) for free by calling Microsoft
(long process, but there is no other). So in your case you could
ask MS, precizing that you are with Win2003, not XP.

Details in the Related Message below (on the "XP General" NG),
and parent and children ones.

Subject: SOLVED by hotfix KB909095 (Hibernation disappears in
XP if 1GB or more)

The reason: The problem is when you upgrade RAM to high size
(1Gb or 2Gb), XPSP2 fails to enlarge accordingly the
pagefile.sys file; attempts to hibernate fail, either before or
after, and cause Windows to temporarily remove Hibernate from
the Shut Down options - but without alterating your personal
Power Profiles. Restart restores Hibernation - thus your
original profiles.

The fix: the hotfix of KB909095, that will be added in XP-SP3,
and that meanwhile you will get for free by calling Microsoft in
your country (2.5MB). Details below.
