Hi,

Those functions only work if all the hardware's drivers support it. Right
now, they don't (and if they do it's not usually very well) and most are not
able to successfully use hibernate, particularly on desktops (the hardware
for which doesn't particularly support that function very well anyways).
Basically, right now it either works or it doesn't. If it doesn't, there's
not much you are going to be able to do about it besides waiting for the
next version.

I have found that the proper video drivers are everything to both hibernate
and sleep. My Toshiba M4 lists a bunch of stuff like bluetooth drivers that
stop sleep and hibernate from working yet when I install certain video card
drivers it all works flawlessly (but the specific drivers that work do not do
aero). the drivers I have settled on allow the screen to go dark when I
select sleep (not a full sleep) and also they go in and out of hibernation
properly.

P.S. when you get just a black screen comming out of hibernation sometimes
waiting a full minute will resolve it. Also the black screen usually means
the computer came out of hibernation but the video card did not.
