Hibernate problem

M

Just upgraded the memory on my HP Pavillion notebook from 512M to 2G.
Hibernate will not work now. Running W2K Pro with all current service
packs installed.

Any ideas?

W2K != WinXP. Re-post your problem here (via nesreader):

Sorry, typo. It's Windows XP Pro with all updates installed.

Hi Marten,

There is a patch that you need to download. It's a pain in the neck.
You have to go to the Microsoft KB look up the article on the
problem, it gives you an 800 number to call you call the 800 number,
they interrogate you for about 6 minutes to make sure you REALLY
need the patch, you give them your e-mail address, and they send you
a link to the file. You download from that link within 48 hours run
the patch and you are set. I also have an HP that I went through
that with (zd7010us).

When I downloaded the file, I saved a copy so that when I bought my
new laptop a DV8205us, I ran the file and it worked perfect. The
patch is fine, it is only the link that MS sends you to get it that
expires.

Now I know there is probably some brilliant reason why they can't
just let people download the file without all the hoops, but I guess
I'm just not brilliant enough to figure out what it is (I have an IQ
of 176).

Ciao . . . C.Joseph
