I recently bought a XPS 400. I notice that the cursor gets busy every
10-15
secs for about 2 secs. How do I fix this annoying problem?
Something is running in the background. It could be the Indexing Service,
some other process, or some program such as some Desktop Search program.
You need to find out what it is. To turn off the Indexing Service, go to
Start>Run>services.msc [enter], scroll down to the Indexing Service and
stop/disable it. See if that makes a difference.
When you first set up your new Dell, did you clean off all the Dell cr*p
they put on there? If not, do so from Add/Remove Programs. If you are
unsure what should be removed, post back with the name of the Dell programs
you see in Add/Remove Programs.
To help determine what is running use the System Configuration Utility:
Start>Run>msconfig [enter]
This brings up the System Configuration Utility. Look on the Startup tab and
find the probable culprit. Uncheck the box next to its name, Apply and OK
out. You don't need to restart immediately, but the next time you do you'll
get a dialog saying you've used the Utility. Just tick the box that says in
effect, "don't bother me about this again".
