Hi guys,

Just meant to say hi. I came here from Borland products which keep showing
disappointing results. I bought VS 2003 and my problems were over. Just
downloaded a bete version of VS 2005. The likes of something I would have
payed big $$$ for within the context of my former Borland license.

That's funny, Delphi has been the best IDE available for developing Win32
apps; the problems only really started when MS decided to introduce the .NET
framework, but not to release all the APIs necessary for anyone else to do
the job properly outside of their IDEs

So how did VS2003 help you to write Win32 apps ? If you wanted to write .NET
apps, then there is a free copy of D2005 on the front cover of certain mags
this month.

Nonetheless, until .NET 2.0 comes out of beta, you cannot expect to see any
offering from Borland; or would you buy a product based on a beta ?

And, fair do's, the VS2005 IDE is certainly the best MS have ever produced,
thanks to all the ex Borlanders MS tempted away :-)

I havent; used a Borland products for a long time, but I do agree with you
, they were the best IDE at the moment, unfortunally theirs help system were
the worst

Hi Joanna, nice of you to respond. Indeed, the likes of Anders and Blake
certainly did more than a little ground work. It's actually the .NET concept
and the C# language I like a lot. And VS 2003. I tried to work with VS 6, but
somehow I couldn't get a running start. However, me and VS 2003 get along
like a house on fire. And as you say, VS 2005 promises to get even better. I
use C++ for win32 apps. I am a long term C++ user and it's a good thing to
use all these languages in the same environment.

Delphi 2005 I don't even want. I stopped at D8, which is a replica of VS or
even #Develop if you like. It's not the Borland products I have a problem
with, it's their attitude. The take all customers for granted and I feel they
defy me. That's not the feeling I get with MS, however marketing propelled
you may suggest they are.

Ah, so you got caught up in the lack of movement on C++Builder :-(

There was an almighty brewha at BorCon last year and a bunch of dedicated
C++B users took management by the throat and shook well until promise
started to come out :-))

You may be pleased to know that there are 'strong' rumours are that Borland
are working on adding C++ Builder into the Delphi 200x series of IDEs along
with the Delphi and C# languages.

Well, we at TeamB are used to taking them to task :-) They now have a new
marketing guy who is actually talking about things yet to come ---shock,
amazement !! There's even talk of a roadmap <gasp, faint>

<chuckle>Yeah I now, I contributed to that tar and feathering party as
well.</chuckle> Nevertheless, there is still no upgrade or bugfix available
for BCB6, regardless the promise for BCB integration into later editions of
Delphi.

Those poor souls (me, e.g.) that got themselves into CBX (C++BuilderX) are
even worse of. We payed top $$$ for a pre-pre-pre-release of a product that
never matured and never will. :-((
