Does anyone have any ideas ??
I typed a very important document (also a very long document
But i did not save it to my hard drive, insead I saved it to a flopp
I also printed off a copy but now both the disk and the hard copy
have vanished. Would this have saved anywher on my hard driv
or am I clutching at straws ??????????????

You are clutching - and there's no straw to grasp.

Incidentally saving to floppy is one of the surest ways to corrupt a
document. Save in future to hard disc and copy to/from floppy

AFAIK, both the file and any temporary file created by word are on the
missing floppy disk. Sorry.

In addition, it is very risky to use the floppy disk directly from Word.
Even if you hadn't lost the floppy, the risk of file corruption was very
high indeed, anyway.

Write doc files direct to hard disk. Copy to floppy when necessary.

If the the contents of the document are so sensitive that it is risky to
have remnants on the hard disk, then don't use Word.

Hope this is useful to you. Let us know.

You could try looking in your Temporary Files - it's clutching but anything's worth a go when you're desperate. Some systems automatically save files even if you haven't. Good luck.
