I keep receiving adverts in the centre of the screen with no option of closing them at all. They appear randomly and not necessarily when a new window is opened. Can anyone help??

This may be caused by a third-party program (adware, spyware, parasite).
Get AdAware and SpyBot and run them both. Keep them up to date.
