Okay my ibm think pad computor is messed if i restart my
comptor well lets just say i chnage the backround or
install somthing and i shut down my computor and turn it
on again when it opens up every thing that i chnaged is
not there and it wont even let chnage the time

Not enough info, but start by setting your preferred settings when it lets
you, then run this edit:

Save Settings on Exit (Line 54)

To use the Regedit: Save the REG File to your hard disk. Double click it
and answer yes to the import prompt. REG files can be viewed in Notepad by
right clicking on the file and selecting Edit.
