my computer was getting slower so I finished two process that were using too
much of my memory, but after I did it I lost the windows AERO functions and
now I cant turn them on again.. what can I do ?

Rt. click desktop>personalize>theme>windows vista

and

Window Color and Appearance>at bottom Open Classic Appearance
Properties>Color Scheme Pulldown>Windows Aero

should fix it.

If it doesn't then:

Ensure that you have the following registry value set to :

HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Windows\DWM\Composition set to 1 (32-bit DWORD)

HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Windows\DWM\CompositionPolicy set to 2 (32-bit
DWORD)

2/ Restart DWM by opening a command prompt with administrative privileges :

- Type 'net stop uxsms'
- Then 'net start uxsms'

If there is an advanced display properties tab>troubleshoot tab or similar
for that card, when you go to Personalization>Display Settings (link towards
bottom) then push the acceleration level all the way to the right, and
enable "Write combing." All of this is dependent on any settings like t
his available at this location.

originally , i was trying to get my rating indexing back up to 3 from haveing
fallen to 2, but came across visual effects under performance options and
noticed under costom was an unchecked box named Enable desktop composition. I
still would like to know what that means and what itis, but I was able to
find the Aero choice by following your advice , rt.click desktop, personalize
, etc ,etc, .....I ve got aero back now but, my rateing is still 2 instead of
3 like it used to be .....go figure
