HELP

hi yol
i just upgraded from sp2 to sp3 and my system is unable to boot to
desktop.after the windows logo a BSOD appears ...............c
0000218.....registry file failure..............the registry could not
load the
hive(file)...........systemroot\system32\config\software..................then
it starts to dump my physical memory. after which it restarts again and
the cycle continues. the other thing is am able to boot to safe mode
without hustle. i really dont know what to do bout it so i was
thinking bout downgrading back to sp2 but i have no idea as to how to
use the command prompt, i didnt uninstall sp2
before upgrading to sp3 , could it be a factor

Umm there IS no SP3 for XP.......yet.
What EXACTLY did you do?

If you can see any open Windows, take your PC over and throw it out!
Make sure you don't injure any passerby.
Seriously, wherever did you get this SP3?

The only official Microsoft SP3 update presently is for Microsoft Office
XP.. some people are cobbling together updates introduced since SP2, and
calling it SP3..

Either do a system restore back to a point where all was ok, or do a repair
install..

After a repair install, all updates have to be executed again.. use Windows
Update site for this and forget about any SP3 update from any source other
than the Microsoft Office homepage

I can assure you that you did not. SP2 is the latest Service Pack for
Windows XP, and there is no SP3.

Please clarify exactly what you did, and where you got this so-called SP3.
