Copying it from the CD does you no good as the HAL.DLL is created during the
install and setup of XP. (HAL - Hardware Abstraction Layer)

Boot from the XP CD and try a repair install.

The system will only boot up from floppy to DOS
I am able to install the CD drivers from here but the WinXP CD will not
Install or run from DOS
WinXP Pro was installed 12 months ago as a upgrade from Win98 and is not a
bootable CD
The brick wall
