Help XP

I am having a problem in that my XP will not shut down. I am forced to hit
the switch to shut down. It just sits there making me look foolish. I am
sure that I am missing a file somewhere along the way.....
 
There is no quick answer for your situation. It would help if you
provided more details. See any messages? Did your computer always have
this problem? If not, what might have changed to cause it?

The Help and Support Center has a a shutdown troubleshooter. You can
start with that.
