Help!! XP will not boot.

I have an XP system that had trouble booting. It displayed the following
message "c:\windows\system\vgaoem.fon" is missing or corrupt. Finially got
that error fixed, now everytime the system starts, it comes to the screen
saying it didn't shut down properly last time and I can choose Safe Mode,
Last Known Good etc.... However after trying all these options it now makes
it to the Windows XP logo screen and the blue bar going across the bottom,
blinks off for a second, then the logos back again, and reboots...over and
over. Can anyone help.
