After having worked fine for a year or two, my system was
hanging after every few hours -- thought it was a bad
motherboard. Replaced:

Motherboard (New: 865PERL)
Processor (New: Boxed P4 2.6 800FSB)
1 GB Memory (New: DDR400)
Video Card (New: ATI 9600 SE)
Case & PS (New: Thermaltake 420w PS)
IDE Drive cables

Same bloody symptoms -- hangs arbitrarily after an hour
or three. No blue screen, just freezes. Nothing in the
event logs. This is with a fresh install of XP Pro. In
fact, it hangs, sometimes, during the installation of XP
Pro. Temperature of the processor and motherboard are
well in the green zone of the Active Monitor.

Any ideas? HELP!!

Try in safe mode and see if it happens then. If its OK in safe mode you
probably have a driver/hardware problem. Remove all cards except video,
disconnect all printers, scanners, etc., change keyboard and mouse and try.
If it works OK then replace devices one at a time until you find what is
causing problem.
