Help XP Pro Crash Help

I used a program to delete hidden files from loading up on boot. Two were
casino files that I had already deleted. I unchecked the boxes to prevent
them from loading up. I then became creative and kept going. Apparently I
uncchecked a file to load up win xp pro. Now I get the blank screen that says
"invalid boot diskette, insert boot diskette in A:" I do but it is not
reading the A: drive. I then tried to get into setup to change the boot
sequence to cdrom first but the blank screen asks me to enter a password. I
never needed a password to get into setup before. When I type my system
passwore and hit enter all that appears is an X, after three times it kicks
me back to the insert boot diskette page.

If you boot from your XP CD, are you going into Recovery Console? or what?

If at the Recovery Console, and if you did not have a password, press the Tab key or press Enter key.

Is this the only XP system that you have? or do you have access to another XP?

Get a blank diskette, format it plainly ( a normal format) and make a bootable-for-XP diskette:
How to Use System Files to Create a Boot Disk to Guard Against Being Unable
to Start Windows XP
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx/kb/314079

This diskette can save you if one of the bootup files gets corrupted.
This should be made at each pc. Since different pc's may have different Windows locations, using it from one pc to a different one may not work due to differences for Boot.ini. Also, having SCSI hard drives versus IDE drives will make differences in Boot.ini files.

(My spare computer which is what i am using now has a defective floppy
drive). when I boot up it will not go pastthe "invalid boot diskette" screen.
I believe the boot sequence is A: CD, C. I cannot get into setup to change
the sequence because it is asking me for a password. when I hit enter it
shows an 'X' and prompts me again, after 3 times i get the "invalid boot
diskette" screen

What exactly asks for passowrd? Still unclear for me. Is it the BIOS or what?

when I restart the computer, I keep hitting del key to enter setup. while
doing this the dos style screen says "entering setup" it then goes to the
blank screen that says 'enter password'. At this point I tried to enter my
windows password and an X appears next to the prompt, after 3 times the
screen goes back to the "invalid boot diskette" screen. The enter password
looks like this (blank screen with "enter password: centered on the
monitor. I cant get past the screen to enter setup to change the boot
sequence so I can try to reinstall xp from the cd.
