hello,
my computer is running really really slow, i have a
firewall, but i think i have some spyware virus attacking
my memory and slowing down the computer....i am trying to
download software from yahoo anti virus to microsoft's
antivirus download and i either get an error page or
a 'You are not authorized to view this page' which
doesn't make sense since i am a valied microsoft
user....it's like my computer has some 'smart' virus that
is not allowing me to download anything that would allow
me to clean up my computer and fight the virus infections

Please provide feedback if this is working.

1) Open up AntiSpyware
2) Click Tools at the top
3) Click "Submit a Suspected Spyware Report"
4) Fill out the form with as much detail so they can
analyze quickly, Feel free to say what you've got in place
and have tried, and that it didn't work

Boot to Safe Mode.
http://tinyurl.com/pfca

Empty your IE cache and your other temporary file
folders, eg: c:\temp, c:\windows\temp or C:\Documents and
Settings\<name>\Local Settings\Temp (the path to your temp
folder will change depending on your name) - sometimes
programmes can be hidden in there - watch out for
mysterious *.exe files or *.dll files in those folders.

Have you tried scanning with Microsoft Antispyware in safe
mode?
Run a FULL SYSTEM SCAN, check the 3 boxes

If you are running SP2, open IE--->Tools--->Manage Add-
ons, and uncheck any BHO's that you don't recognize.

Assuming that the installation is on drive C:
1. In "My Computer", right click on the icon for drive C:,
select "Properties".
2. Click tab "Tools".
3. Click button "Check Now".
3. Check both "Automatically fix file system errors"
and "Scan for and attempt recovery of bad sectors".
4. Click "Start".

Follow the instructions to allow system shut-down and
restart. The disk checks will run after restart and
before Windows loads. This scan for bad sectors might
take few minutes if you have a large hard disk: be patient.

Assuming that the installation is on drive C:
1. In "My Computer", right click on the icon for drive C:,
select "Properties".
2. Click tab "Tools".
3.Click button "Defragment Now".
4.Click Defragment.

Run your updated antivirus

Reboot.

Hello,

Have you tried to scan the computer with one of the on-line antivirus
scanners? If no, then try one or more:

http://housecall.trendmicro.com/

http://www.pandasoftware.com/activescan/

http://us.mcafee.com/root/mfs/default.asp?cid=9435

http://www3.ca.com/securityadvisor/virusinfo/scan.aspx

http://www.kaspersky.com/scanforvirus

If you can start the computer in the safe mode with network (F8 during
boot-up) then download, install, update and scan the computer with the
following applications:

Spybot Search&Destroy http://www.majorgeeks.com/download2471.html

HijackThis http://www.majorgeeks.com/download3155.html

CWShredder http://cwshredder.net/bin/CWShredder.exe

Ad-Aware SE Personal http://www.lavasoft.com/software/adaware/

McAfee Stinger http://vil.nai.com/vil/stinger/

And of course MS AntiSpyware
http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/...A2-6A57-4C57-A8BD-DBF62EDA9671&displaylang=en

If you are unable to download these programs in the Safe mode with network,
then go to your friend, download them at his computer and place (burn) on
some CD-R. Then start your computer in the Safe mode (without network) and
do the same - install these applications from that CD-R and perform a full
scan of the system.

Check your firewall settings if they do not contain rules allowing viruses,
trojans or other malicious software to access the Internet.

If you don't use antivirus software, try to use a free one (for example
http://www.fre-av.com - but there are others).
