help with vista WMCent.

After searching endlessly, my problem is I cant get windows media
center to work with my xbox 360. I think the problem is that windows
media player is permanently deleted from my pc, I deleted everything I
could associated with WMP because it never worked and now I can't even
get it back without wiping my drive.... (windows vista 32 home
premium).
So my question is can I set up media center to work with
another player, like VLC player, which seems to be the replacement
player for WMP. I've tried everything else and any possible info would
help. You can e-mail me direct at (e-mail address removed) because I'm new
and probably won't find this post again....Thanks in advance, Scott
The only reason I bought & put up with vista was because I wanted the
WMC for my x-box
Will microsoft give me a free xp os disk with WMCenter since vista has
failed me?????

I'm very confused. If you delete Windows Media Player in full, you've
fundamentally broken your install of Vista and do need to either repair,
reinstall, or format and reinstall. If you want to keep limping along with
the current system, you could try using an alternative Media Center option
from some random third party. But Media Center very much uses the player,
sorry.

If you're having problems with the player, it might be possible to deal with
them in a more positive fashion.
