I have Microsoft Office 2003 loaded on my new Inspiron that came with Vista.

I have changed all of the settings for my incoming and outgoing servers but
continue to get an error message when I try to send or receive e-mail.

Microsoft's website instructed me to set up Windows Mail.....bad thing to
do.

Now, my incoming ends up in Windows Mail but when I click on a hyperlink to
send messages it opens Outlook and the messages will not go.

Please help me straighten all of this out.

First, you need to make up your mind as to whether you will use Outlook
or Windows Mail as your default email program. Outlook 2003 should
work perfectly in Vista. However, the Outlook experts usually hang out
in a different newsgroup.

You can select which email program handles all the defaults:
Open the Default Programs applet, which you can access either from
the Start menu or via the Control Panel, then click the first item:
"Set your default programs."
After a few seconds, a list of programs comes up. Click on the name of
the program you want as your default. If it doesn't respond with
"This program has all its defaults"
then fix it by clicking on the option indicated by the first green arrow.
