Help with USB cable for external HD

No Such Luck

Hi All:

I recently purchased a 500GB Kanguru external HD. It is the one
referenced here (although the black model):

http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/SearchTools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=1631920&CatId=136

However, finding a cable to hook up this device to my computer via USB
seems like a pretty tall order: I had originally bought the cable
referenced here, as it said for use with any Kanguru drive:

http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/SearchTools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=323040&CatId=445

However, when the cable came, while correctly hooking up to my USB
port, the cable did not have the right connection to interface with the
Kanguru drive. Tech support has been no help.

Can anyone point me to a cable that will connect this Kanguru drive to
a USB port?

Thanks in advance for any help.

Then threaten them with returning both unless they resolve the problem.

It looks rather like its a special cable with a unique connector
on the drive end, presumably their approach to handling both
USB2 and firewire, using a different cable for each mode.

There isnt even a manual available online on
the Kanguru site tho, so thats less than clear.

Well, it looks like they have made their own cables, compatible
to nothing. If the advertises cable does not work, you should
give the drive and the cable back.
