Help with this error message about Windows 6.0 files

When I try to open a doc file I get this message. Can not load Word for
Windows 6.0 files. Anyone know what I am missing here? Thanx
 
How do I know that I have loaded the Windows XP Service Pack 2? Thanks for
the reply.
