my computer has never had any problems. but this morning when i went to turn
it on i noticed it was running slower and when i tried to access my D: drive
it said the disk wasn't formatted and that i needed to. i've tried restarting
my comp to see if that would help, but it didn't. if i format the disk i'll
lose everything i have saved on it. please help!

Right click My Computer and select Manage to open Computer Management
Console. On the left under Storage double click Disk Management. Your
drives will be displayed to the right. Right click on the drive to
find out what properties are currently set

It MAY be that the drive hardware has failed

thank you very much for your reply. i'm not very good with computers so i
appreciate the help. now, when i double clicked on the Disk Management it
says that both drives are online and their status is Healthy. when i clicked
on the drive to see the properties it said that there was 0 bytes of free
space and 0 bytes of used space. i'm assuming this isn't normal. does this
mean that the drive hardware has failed? and what should i do if it turns out
to be the case?
