help with retrieving files from hard drive

ok..herez my problem. my dad put in another hard drive into our comp and he
decided to put all our files onto the new hardrive. well, now we can't even
get any of the files back. we go to the hard drive and to the folders in it,
but when we click it, it says the folder is empty, but when we go to the
prperties, it says that like half of the hardrive is full. can anyone please
help me get all my files back? if this is confusing, just let me know and i
will try to explain it better.
 
Your message is difficult to read because you have foregone standard
capitalization and spelling
What method did he use to transfer these files? If you still have the old
HD, you might consider a new install and using the Files and settings
transfer wizard.. You will still have to reinstall the programs.
