I posted the question below and got the response you see. It seemed to make
sense until I tried it. I can't seem to get a follow-up reply from Marlof. I
did a search in Address Book Help for categories and it came up dry. Also
how would you set a filter in address book? If someone could clarify, I
would be grateful
I have a Viewsonic V35. I would like to input business phone numbers to
the address book. I would also like to have them backed up when I sync. I
don't want my Outlook 2k address book cluttered up with the business
contacts.
Is it possible to do what I want to do? Suggestions will be appreciated.
If you don't want the records to exist on your desktop in Outlook, the
answer is no. Everything added on your Pocket PC will be synchronized to
your
desktop. Even synchronizing by category won't prevent that. But there's a
way
around the clutter, and that is still by using categories. Create (or use an
existing) category for all your business contacts, and in your Outlook 2k
address book, set a filter to exclude those. They will be backed up to your
Outlook database, they will exist in Outlook, but you won't have them in
view, therefore don't see the 'clutter'.
